I grew up in Elizabeth City, North Carolina where my grandfather was a builder that built many residential rental homes and as they aged, needed a fulltime maintenance person. So, at twelve years old, as many kids had paper routes and yard cutting after school and summer jobs I used my bicycle and front basket to go from house to house fixing roofs, plumbing leaks, painting and whatever small jobs needed to be done.

In 1987 ,after graduating from East Carolina University I moved to the Outer Banks and worked managing Kellogg Supply in Duck. In 1992 I got a general contractors license and started building residential homes while still working for Griggs Lumber. In 1999 I left the lumber business and went full time with my dreams. Over the following 14 years I have built close to a hundred homes that ranged from 800 to over 13,000 sqft and every style from contemporary to traditional to craftsman, but always focusing on the client to make sure their dream comes true.

Having been born and raised on the Outer Banks I have always had a great appreciation for the natural beauty of where we live and responsible development. For the past 25 years I have held just about every position in my family owned business, Dare Building Supply, Inc., from stock clerk to eventually the Vice President and Owner.

While owning Dare Building Supply I have literally been involved in every aspect, of more construction projects than I can count. Some of my many responsibilities that I had would range from staying in tune with new technologies while always looking for the best in new energy efficient, hurricane rated products such as windows, doors, siding and roofing. Then eventually seeing those products proven in our own construction projects where I was involved in the construction management from beginning to end. Having worked in the Outer Banks construction industry for 25 years I have gained the experience needed to always ensure that our client’s dreams come true.
